I was wondering if anybody can point me to site where I can download Allman Brothers Band. The show I am looking for is 3/21/05. I know the archive doesn't host the Allmans, neither does bt.etree.org, and furthernet does not also. Anybody who can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The Allmans have asked that their shows not be made available for download - check out their trading policy for more information. You'll have to go through regular mail for any ABB material...

Please see my discussion with Jody C (May 05, 2005 08:23:25am Re: Gov't Mule) The same site (http://www.sugarmegs.org/) has lots of ABB ('70,'71,'72,'73,'79,'95,'01,'02,'03). Our discussion reveals how to access these shows if you are interested.

The best place to work out a trade is probably through http://db.etree.org rather than here. Especially for a band that's not hosted here. The db site is specifically aimed at traders. Hunt down the show you're looking for, and you should find plenty of people with copies.

Also, the Allman Brothers' own site has a trading section:
http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/

Look on the left side under "Community" for the "Tape Trading" link.

The Allman Brothers are hypocrites. You can tape their shows but only trade them thru inconvenient, outdated means. Does anyone agree with this or is it just me?

There was a time when live Allman Bros. meant the Fillmore East LP set.
That lasted me years.

That hypocrite comment is [misthought].

First, look up the definition of the term. What you describe is not hypocritical. In that case the Allman Brothers would have to offer someone else's music for digital download.

Second, if you weren't ... impatient... you would just snail mail for it. The quality isn't any lower it just requires more work on your part....

Hypocritical:professing feelings or virtues one does not have: For example "The Allman Brothers claim they want their fans to share their live music freely, but choose to make it unnecessarily difficult.

That would make sense, except that they don't want their fans to "share their live music freely", and they say so up front. They are WILLING to allow their fans to tape their shows and trade them, but would PREFER that fans buy their albums and go to see their shows. Sounds reasonable to me - most bands don't allow taping at all. I went out and bought the Allman's three recent official Live releases: "An Evening With...", "2nd Set" and "Peakin' at the Beacon". That's because I'm a fan and want to support the band. I also have several shows that I've traded for.

What's hypocritical is someone whining about how mean and nasty a band is that's giving their music away for free! The phrase "spoiled brat" springs to mind.

Well, I've purchased several of there official releases myself(Atlanta Pop, SUNY 9/19/71) and if they released the shows I'm looking for I'd purchase them also.~but I guess if my opinion differs from yours I'm "a whining spoiled brat". Peace.
